I've scheduled an AGM for Thursday, 16th of April, from 12pm to 1pm in the Electrical Engineering building room L2. This may be changed depending on the availability of our guild rep.
The following positions have been decided:
Auditor - Brian Neenan
Secretary (Assistant Auditor) - Rory O' Connor
Treasurer - Robert Linehan
Public Relations Officer (PRO) - Quilly
There are 3 other positions that are available if you're interested in helping out with the society next year.
Education Officer
Equipment Officer
Entertainment Officer
Either post here in this thread, ship me a pm or send an email to uccpokersoc@gmail.com and let us know your interest beforehand.
We've got about E1,400 in the account for this years Tournament of Champions, this needs to be confirmed though.
Like the last few years we'll have a heads-up tournament and the tournament of champions.
The heads-up tournament will be held on Thursday, 16th of April, at 1pm in the Electrical Engineering building room L2.
The heads-up tournament is open to everybody who's qualified for the tournament of champions. It will be E10 to enter with E200 added.
The structure will likely be best of 3 with losers from the first round playing off in best of 1 matches, either HU or 3 handed format, to give us the right number for the second round.
So, for example, if 24 show up there'll be 12 matches in the first round, the 12 winners qualify for the second round. The 12 losers play off in 4 3-handed matches to fill the last 4 spots for the second round. It'll then play down 16 -> 8 -> 4 -> 2 -> 1 with top 4 being paid.
Another example, if 21 show up there'll be 10 matches in the first round, the 10 winners qualify for the second round as well as one random player who'll go straight to the second round. The 10 losers play off in 5 heads-up matches to fill up the remaining 5 spots for the second round.
If we can't get that to work out nicely then we'll do group stages instead.
Structure will probably be similar to last years which I believe was 3000 starting stack with 10 minute levels.
So that leaves E1200 for the Tournament of Champions. It will be held on Friday, 17th of April, at 12pm in the Electrical Engineering building room L2. It's free to enter, Douglas will post a list of players who qualify.
Structure will be the same as last year; 10,000 starting stack and 30 minute levels. It'll be self deal but we should have somebody to deal the final table (Quilly will probably be knocked out by then).
